Prepaid subscribers pay money in advance into their account, which they can recharge as necessary. This gives them control over their telephone costs. They are not tied to one network operator by a long-term contract. Operators always get their money and can target new customer groups with specially structured tariffs. Prepaid is ideally suited as a means of handling future payments of small amounts via mobile phone (micropayment).
